When the fee for a course is too high, I like to conduct what I call a 'cost-benefit' exercise. The B.Tech fee at KU is INR 2.03 Lakhs per year. Considering the fee, do the returns match the price? KU is graded 'B' by NAAC, an average grade considering most colleges in both tier 1 and 2 have 'A' grade. So, considering the cost-benefit exercise, KU is not a good option for a B.Tech. This is not to imply all colleges charging a high fee are bad in some way. The B.Tech fee at BITS is INR 3.37 LPA, which is way higher than KU. However, the return still balances the high cost as BITS is one of the best engineering colleges in the country.
