At LPU sports facilities are available for various games like cricket, football, boxing, basketball, etc and many students of the university have achieved excellence in various sports. Indoor stadiums, library, gym, mess, etc are the LPU Phagwara facilities that are offered to the students. Lovely Professional University won India’s largest sports festival- Khelo India University Games 2021 (KIUG-2021), held in Bengaluru (Karnataka). The LPU team won, the most, 51 medals (17 gold, 15 silver, 19 bronze); 19 medals ahead of the overall winner. These games are to serve as qualifiers for the ‘World University Games’, presently scheduled to be held in Chengdu, China. The 10-day second edition of the international framework of the games witnessed 20 sports competitions, with 3900 participants from 208 universities across India. LPU sports persons exhibited their excellence amid star participation including internationally acclaimed athletes and Olympians. Defending champions Panjab University Chandigarh finished third. Last year, eleven LPU students won Olympics medals including Neeraj Chopra, a Javelin Throw athlete who won a GOLD MEDAL for India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after 121 years!LPUare still in shock and humbled by the exhilarating and miraculous performance thrown by this LPU student who not only made us but the whole of INDIA proud! Football, Volleyball (M/W), Basketball (M/W), Handball (M/W), Baseball (M/w), Softball (M/W), Hockey (M/W), Kho-Kho (M/W), Athletics - Cross Country (M/W), Best Physique, Chess (M/W), Cricket, Kabaddi, Table Tennis (M/W), Table Tennis (M/W), Lawn Tennis, Badminton (M/W), Taekwondo, Squash, Judo, Weight Lifting & Powerlifting (M/W), Netball, Boxing, Air Pistol Shooting, Archery (M/W), Swimming (M/F) Karate LPU has a swimming pool for the standards of the Olympic Swimming pools, and it is no ordinary Swimming Pool. It is an Olympic-Size, mind-blowing, and simply amazing Pool that is a dream come true for every aspiring swimmer. There are two more swimming pools in the indoor stadium of the University. The LPU Swimming pools facilities are available to all the students of the university and the students can opt for the swimming pool at the time of admission itself. These indoor swimming pools are massive in size and are kept clean by the University Staff regularly. The boys and girls will have separate indoor swimming pools. It also serves as a great facility for those who want to learn swimming, as it is accessible to all LPU students. It is located inside LPU’s amazing Indoor Stadium where a student can practice a large variety of sports like Badminton, Basketball, Shooting, Boxing, and whatnot! LPU even conducts many National and International Swimming championships which witness the world’s finest Swimmers compete against each other. Along with your studies, you can take up swimming as your hobby or favourite sport and emerge out to be competent and an all-rounder!
