How can I increase my marks substantially in UPSC prelims ?

Practice sections with lesser scope vigorously. Most students spend most of their time preparing for the current affairs and general knowledge sections. Questions from these two sections are very abstract and can literally come from anywhere. Rather than devoting to much time to these sections, students should focus more on mainstream topics which guarantee a chunk of the marks. Prepare every section strategically rather than studying for one section all the time.
