Do college admissions counselors want to accept students ?

I assume you mean admissions officers that work for the college, not “counselors” which are generally trying to place students at colleges. Admissions officers definitely want to accept the best students (and best group of students) they can. They are not looking for excuses to deny kids. On the other hand, at highly selective colleges, they have limited spots. I’ve been told by admissions officers at Ivy colleges that they are in love with 4x as many students as they can admit. So, yeah, they wish they could accept more. Follow the link : college admission counselor
