About College

The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Lucknow is the oldest engineering college of Lucknow. The IET was established by the government of Uttar Pradesh in 1984, for imparting technical education. The institute is fully financed by Uttar Pradesh Government and is being administered by the IET society.

  •  It is an autonomous constituent college of Gautam Buddh Technical Unviversity, formerly Uttar Pradesh Technical University [UPTU].
  • The campus sprawling over an area of 100 acres, is situated on the outskirts of Aliganj, on the entrance of Lucknow from Sitapur Road and is aroumd 15 kms from the Charbagh Railway Station.
  • The Institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in various disciplines of engineering.
  • The admission to these academic courses is given on the basis of the rank obtained by the candidate in SEE-UPTU (Uttar Pradesh State Engineering Admission Test). This exam is conducted by Uttar Pradesh Technical University.
  • The institute witnesses campus recruitments from companies like  Adobe, Pitney Bowes, TCS, Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra, Hero Honda, L&T, Birlasoft, Nokia Siemens Networks, Alstom, Reliance Power, Honda etc.
  • The Institute was granted an Industry Institute Partnership Cell in 1999 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Academic Overview: Initially, it offered B.Tech degree in three branches namely Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics. Presently institute offers B.Tech degree in eight disciplines, M.Tech in two disciplines, MBA and MCA programs.

Extracurricular: The institute has various student societies which organize activities that are essential for the development of the individual. Some  active societies in the institute are-

Kriti- The Creation Vision: The society is run by CSE department students to keep the students aware of the latest technology. It mainly works in following fields-

  • Wall Magazine
  • Personality Development
  • Quizzes/Competitions/ Seminars
  • Technical Events

Electrical Engineering Society: The society conducts various activities such as debate, quiz among EE students.

Facilities: IET provides all the basic amenities and support facilities on the campus. These are centrally located and are well equipped with the necessary infrastructure. These facilities include-

Hostel

The institute has hostel facilities for boys and girls separately.

There are six boys’ and two girls’ hostel which accommodate around 1500 students.

Each hostel has its own mess and is provided with all daily need facilities.

Computer Center

The institute has well equipped computing facility with 24 hour internet access.

Gymnasium

The gymnasium is equipped with all modern facilities and is open for boys and girls at separate times.

Medical Facility

It provides all medical facilities and medicines by a dispensary team comprising a Medical officer in charge and a compounder.

Bank Facility

There is a Vijaya Bank Branch inside the campus.

 

 

Festivals: The students of the institute are not only active in technical activities but also in cultural activities. The main cultural fest organized every year is detailed as below-

  • Encore- Encore stands for Endeavour, Nous, Creativity, Opera, Rollick and Enthusiasm. The encore is held in month of April. The events at Encore include stage events, non-stage events, quizzes, fine arts, technical events etc. Other colleges from throughout the country are invited to participate in the fest.
  • Every year institute organizes a three day long sports meet named Shauryotsava. Various outdoor and indoor sports activities take place in sports meet.

      As IET is the best college affiliated to AKTU university. The faculty members of my college are best and much experienced. the college infrastructure is good and the ground on the college is very big. Cultural refreshment keeps happening from time to time.the hostel conditions are not much good. Placement of college is not so good. Mostly IT, CS and EC students are placed in companies like TCS, Lava and all. As the recent trend says there is a lack of good companies coming for placements. But th
