About College

Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET), was established in 1997. It is an engineering college located in Gunupur, in the state of Odisha, India and affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology.

  • The institute had NBA Accreditation, which had accredited only 5% of the engineering colleges of the country on the basis of their education and infrastructure in 2004, and also accredited by NAAC "A" certificate.
  • It is also an ISO 9001:2008 certified Institute with the approval of AICTE, New Delhi, Govt. of India
  • The Institute is working with the mission to expand human knowledge beneficial to society through education, integrated with application and research. It strives to investigate on the challenging basic problems faced by Science and Technology in an Inter disciplinary atmosphere and urges to educate its students to reach their destination, making them come up qualitatively and creatively and to contribute fruitfully.
  • The institution offers 7 undergraduate, 4 postgraduate, 3 Diploma programs
  • A 30-acre eco-friendly campus with over 6.80 lakh sq.ft. Buildup space.

Industrial Talks:

  • There is a regular conduction of industrial talks/seminars by very eminent experts from the academics, industry and research as well.The corporate mentors are invited from NTPC , NALCO, BSNL, HP, PPL, HAL, L & T, Microsoft teched, SIFY, BAJAJ AUTO, SAE INDIA, , NHAI,  CTTC, ORACLE, SAIL, IBM, NIIT, SIMPLEX, STPI and many others . All these resource persons from the industries/institutes train our students & guide them to do live projects on various issues of science and technology.

Seminars & Conferences:

  • Workshop on National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) was organized by GIET on 13th July 2013:
  • NPTEL is conducting a one day awareness workshop for the NPTEL Video / Audio course.
  • Seminar on ACMA by Mechanical Engineering on 30th Nov 2012.
  • Seminar on ‘Cement Content of Future Concrete without compromising the strength aspects’ by Civil Engg Dept on 30th November, 2012.
  • National Seminar on Power Electronics and Energy System’ on 29th & 30th Sept. 2012.

Co-Curricular Activities:-

Chapters:

  • CSI (Computer Society of India): The CSI has been instrumental in guiding the Indian IT industry down the right path during its formative years. Today, the CSI has 70 chapters all over India, 400+ student branches, and more than 71,000 members, including India’s most famous IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians.
  • ISTE: ISTE, The Indian Society for Technical Education is a national, professional and non-profit making Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860.
  • SAE India: SAE India is one of the Premier Institute in the field of Automotive design, Manufacturing and Research as well as development programmes associated for Automotives in Land, sea & space. GIET College is the 2nd Private College in Orissa to form the SAE India Collegiate Club, formed in the year October-2011, with 110 student members. The main aim of this collegiate Club to motivate the students as well as the teacher in the fields like design & manufacturing the products in the automotive sector. 

Activities or Clubs:-

  • Art Club: Arts Association provides encouragement and opportunities for the development of histrionic talent and cultural activities of the students.Fine Arts is a Club with the motive to work for exploring the hidden potential of each and every student. We train them and take them to inter college competitions and have won many prizes.
  • CSR Activities: In the last decade, a movement defining broader corporate responsibilities– for the environment, for local communities, for working conditions, and for ethical practices–has gathered momentum and taken hold. This new driving force is known as corporate social responsibility (CSR).
  • Finishing School: Weekly classes of Finishing School classes are conducted in GIET BBSR for all round development of a student. These classes are industry oriented and thus developed the personality of the students.
  • GATE Club: Here the club provide free coaching for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering) to pre-final and final year students.
  • Music Club: The music club conduct music programme for annual function Sparkle 210.The club members vividly do take part in various inter-college competitions held in different colleges and also perform occasionally in the functions of local organizations held in and around the city.
  • Robotic Club: The GIET Robotics Club is a community of students who derive pleasure in creating mechanical peers that may even be potent to work without human
  • Sports Club: Students are encouraged to engage in physical education and for the overall development of personality.

Recognitions:-

  • Surveying Agency of National repute like The Dalal Street Journal Mumbai, rated GIET as one of the best college of engineering in the Eastern India continuously for the years 2010-11 and 2011-12.
  • The Famous SILLICON INDIA Magazine, Bangalore, also rated GIET as at number 7, mentioning one amongst the top 10 Most Emerging Engineering Colleges in India.
  • GIET is approved by CSI Certification, which provides recognition of high professional competence displaying dedication, caliber, standard, commitment together with quality, depth and breadth of ICT knowledge leading to increased business opportunities and better employment prospects.

Hostel:-

There are total 32 hostels in which 22 for boys and 10 for girls with total 3,500 capacity.Campus Hostel has common mess with well equipped kitchen and massive dining area of 1,700 people capacity providing hygienic, nutritious and wholesome food. Each hostel has Carrom, TV room, Newspaper, and Chess. The students housed in the campus are encouraged to use the 6 track national level Swimming pool, playground, Gym, and all indoor & outdoor gaming facilities.
