About College
Birla Institute of Technology was established in Ranchi by Industrialist Mr. BM Birla in the year 1955.
The University came into being with the sole purpose of proving the country with the best of personnel in the field of science and technology.
- This University also has tie- ups with Universities in UK, Canada and USA
- Birla Institute of Technology was established under the section 3 with U.G.C Act of 1956
- It is one of the 5 Indian Universities which are partners of French "n+i" network
- It was the first technical institute to started a Department of Space Engineering & Rocketry
- It is located in an area with 780 acres. Since Ranchi is the Capital of Jharkhand, this place is connected to Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna and Delhi through air
- Total number of students in the college are more than 10,000
- ITM Mumbai has started research program in collaboration with BIT, Mesra
- BIT conducts a 6 month PGPMI course in association with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance

Festivals
BITotsav is a five-day festival organized in the month of February annually. The main attractions are Band-Nite, Music-Nite, Dance-Nite & Pro-Nite.
Dhwani was a three-day musical fest organized by the music club.
