About College

National Institute of Technology Patna is the 18th National Institute of Technology created by the Ministry of H.R.D. Government of India after rechristening the erstwhile Bihar College of Engineering (BCE) Patna on 28. 01. 2004.

• BCE Patna presently NIT Patna marked its humble beginning in 1886 with the establishment of pleaders survey school and degree courses in Engineering from 1924.
• The institute is situated on the south bank of holy river Ganges behind Gandhi Ghat, one of the most important and reverential places of Patna.
• Currently 3000 students are studying in institute
• College offers 7 under graduate and 11 post graduate courses
• Admissions are based on JEE Mains

Facilities:

Library: The Central library of the institute that replaced the earlier library own stock of over 78,300 books catering to the needs of all the relevant fields of engineering. It has a resourceful stock of over 4,748 computer related books and clearly demarcated section for every engineering branch and architecture. There are more than 2712 e-journals available in the Institute. Library subscribes all journals of IEEE, IET (UK), Science Direct, Wiley etc. The Library has also a separate e-resource section.

Hostels & Mess: Residential facilities are provided to students in three boys’ hostels and four girls’ hostels.

Festivals and Event:

CORONA- Corona is one of the largest techno-management fests of Eastern India encompassing events covering the entire engineering domain and it is sponsored by Honda, HP, Vodafone, Canara Bank and various top MNCs. It grooms all around development of technical skills amongst various engineering students from IITs, NITs and from many other colleges from over the country.

PARAKRAM- Parakram is the annual sports meet of NIT Patna which keeps the students on their toes throughout the calendar year. The students participate with full enthusiasm and inculcate the virtues of a true sportsman. The students are also encouraged to participate in events like Inter NIT sports meet. Sports are promoted to improve the overall personality of our students.

MELANGE- Melange is NIT Patna’s cultural fest cum annual day celebration which aims to extract and appreciate various facets of cultural traits hidden within the students all across the nation by conducting many cultural events like Parliamentary debate, Singing, Dancing, Acting, Poetry and much more. This event is culminated by our grand annual day celebration.
